Earlier this week a Canadian shop-owner had his world rocked by sanctions from the government stating many of the British foods he had been importing for his specialist food store were to be removed from sale or he would face massive fines and the potential closure of his business. Aside from the obvious question of just why there is a market for some of the awful shite we produce on these shores, this story also raises questions about the somewhat bizarre trading and importing laws that still exist around the world today.
Stories about crazy bans on products that are deemed harmless in other countries feel like they should be relegated to history. Sadly, however, such ludicrousness continues to exist even in our progressive, forward-thinking 21st century, so we’re here to take you on a tour through the best examples. Fasten your seatbelts, guys and girls, things are about to get stupid.
