He’s loud, mad and drives a cab
So what are the worst things happening in the UK in 2014? Well, since it’s only January, everything that was wrong with Britain last year probably still stands, and since New Year’s Eve is basically just a hyped opportunity to get wasted and imagine that your slate has been wiped clean, it’s likely the problems of 2013 remain with us. On this positive note I decided to meet with Mark McGowan to find out what he thinks is really fucked up about our country.
For those of you who have not heard of him, McGowan – who calls himself the ‘Artist Taxi Driver’ – is a performance artist and cabbie known for, amongst other things, eating the remains of a swan, as well as a corgi, in an effort to expose the failure of the RSCPA to prosecute Prince Philip for killing a fox. He has gained notoriety online through his explosive and consistent criticism of supposed political corruption and what he considers to be the massive inadequacies of British society, so it was with slight trepidation that I entered his office to find out the worst things about the UK. And by office, I mean the passenger seat of his car.
